Springleaf Nature Walk – 19/2/23

Description:  Springleaf Nature Park was formerly part of the Chan Chu Kang village – named after the headman Chan Ah Lak who acquired the land near Seletar River to cultivate gambier and pepper.

The forest near Chan Chu Kang were also favoured for the collection of botanical and zoological specimens. Collectors such as Henry Ridley, Singapore Botanic Garden’s first director, would collect specimens from the area.

Where to meet

  1. By Bus: 167, 169, 980  – alight at bus stop outside the former Nessea Club
  2. By MRT : Springleaf MRT Station – walk 550m along upper Thomson Road (direction is against the traffic, pass Shell Station)
  3. All to meet at the Pavilion at 8.30am

Note:  Group will start walk at 8.45am.  Text the organizer if you are coming.

What to wear and bring: Wear light and use covered shoes. Bring umbrella in case it rains. Bring snack and water.  Bring insect repellent for those with sensitive skin.

Fee:  Free for SAC members.  Non-members:  $5 per person
