SAC to Chestnut Nature Park – 30 Jul 2023

Description:  Walk shall start with the Southern loop first – covering 3 trails and uneven terrain.  Highlights include the cannon balls trees and landscape giants – chopsticks trees. Next the Northern loop – is the largest nature park to-date, covering 64 hectares of land. There are designated separate trails for hiking and biking; the trail heads under the scenic grove of trees lead to a clearing area where an observation tower, Chestnut Tower. The 8-storey tower gives you a panoramic view of trees top and nearby housing estate.  We will also cover undulating terrain to look for durian trees and remnants of old kampong buildings. The highlights include the bustling stream, cluster of pandan and ginger plants, not forgetting the biggest number of simpoh trees at a single park.  Learn at least 20 flowers, shrubs, and trees along the trails.

Date/Time: Sunday, 30th July at 8.30am, outside Hillview MRT.

How to get there: MRT to Hillview station or Bus 176 from Jurong East (bus stop in front of church) and stop in front of Dairy Farm Road

Note:  Group shall commence walk at 845 am.

Approximate duration of walk/distance: 3.5 hours / 6km

What to wear / bring: Wear light and use covered shoes, bring water and snacks, raincoat or poncho, insects repellent – if children need them.

Fee:  Free for members, $5 for non-members

Level of difficult:  Easy
