Black and White Houses, Past and Present 26 Nov 2022 (Sat)

A half day walk that spans more than a century, and counting.

Besides shophouses the black and white houses leave their marks of colonial glory and remain an architectural witness to rule of British empire to this day.

These houses had to adapt to our climate and local culture, be practical and comfortable, yet a constant homesick reminder to its occupants.

Our walk begins at Botanic Garden, to Gallop extension,  Dempsey Hill, Dawson, break at Mei Ling St hawker centre, along Green Corridor to Wessex Estate, and end at Tanglin Halt. One of the prettiest routes you will find in modern Singapore.

Let’s make a date with this walk and enjoy a great Saturday morning together. Hope to see you all at the walk.
