Originally a nutmeg, coffee and pepper plantation acquired by Ong Clan to be a cemetery. Graves of Singapore pioneers and philanthropists are lying among those of rickshaw pullers and war victims. Intricate Chinese stone carvings stand alongside European angels and peranakan tiles. Currently it is lush green lung and rich habitat for wildlife in the city center.
